For Josh and Ashley. The unofficial toast for you.
May 4, 2013
Today is a very special day. Two amazing and very important people in my life are joining their hands in marriage.
Josh, my cousin by blood, but more importantly, my brother in my heart. Always and forever. We have been through a lot together you and I. From our childhood, I remember seeing you as my best friend. I still consider you my best friend Bug. I love you more than I can ever tell you and it makes me so happy that you are marrying the woman of your dreams.
I have so many fond memories of us as kids. I think we were always together. Remember the tunnel under the road in Juda? Playing Power Rangers on the trampoline and blastoff. Or, I know you remember the time at Riverside restaurant when we were being silly with my mom and smashing crackers on her… she got us back with the water… We were both quite shocked. All the times to Six Flags or Wisconsin Dells. Especially after I had my tonsils out and my mom said I could take a friend with us. Of course, it would be you. Do you remember when we were there and trying to sleep the first night in the car… That was a joke. How about all the times we played baseball in the summer and our camping trips. Our bike rides all across Janesville or the times I pulled you with your rollerblades. We went fishing many times and do you remember the first time we both saw a leech for the first time?? I can’t forget that. When you picked up that rock it was under and grabbed it. How you freaked out when it latched on to you. I am still not a fan of leeches to this day… Even now your Zorro mark on you finger because of me.
What I’m trying to say Josh, is you’ve come a long way from this childhood we have shared. Now, it’s time you build more memories with your love. Give all the love you can to her and to your children. Memories don’t last forever, but some do stick with you. So make the good ones count!
Ashley, you are not only my cousins girlfriend or now wife. You are my friend. You are one of my best friends because you have a good heart. I’m so glad you and Josh found each other. I am grateful to have a friend like you in my life. You make life better just by being near you. I feel like I have known you for forever already. You know, we share so many memories and when I think of them, I miss you more than you realize. Olds-mobile ride to beloit? The summers we went to Frosty Freeze and the time you came to watch my baby ducks. You broke me out of my dancing shell! Get low girl and drop it like it’s hot! Because it is. Only 4 freaking kills!? We like to party. We like, we like to party. ((http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Zbi0XmGtMw)) «Remember this one?
Anyways guys, I just want you both to know, you are some of the most important people in my life. I am so happy for you both. You have come a long way and are becoming stronger and stronger together. You don’t know how much it hurts me that I could not be there to share this once in a lifetime special day with you. I would do anything to change that, but just know, I love you both with all my heart. I wish you all the happiness and strength to build your relationship more and more. On the bright side, it is good I’m not there to read you this wedding toast as I would be crying like a baby and no one would understand most of this. And I wouldn’t be able to say….Ahem, Pretty Ricky? Really guys? Seriously??
I love you,
Take care and have a happy life together.
